Welcome

There's much to see here. So, take your time, look around, and learn all there is to know about us. We hope you enjoy our site and take a moment to contact us.

About Us

Cedar Tree Music and Performance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization EIN 88-4126856, working to enrich the lives of children ages 8-17 through music education and performance. Our members engage in classes and workshops to develop life long skills such as resilience, endurance, collaboration, and communication. We believe that our society can bridge differences through the universal language of music. Ultimately, our goal is to provide our members the opportunity to share their musical talents with the public, and to revitalize forgotten and neglected public venues with live performances; breathing life back into our local communities.

Always Something Going On

When we're not performing at community or private events, we are rehearsing or engaged in workshops hosted by local music professionals year round. Come join the fun!

Our Mission

Expanding the world of youth orchestras by providing opportunities to underserved communities in multicultural music education and performance.

Executive Profiles

Cheryl Carter has traveled and performed extensively as a world dancer with an emphasis on folk dance. As a mother of twins boys, both on the autism spectrum , she has witnessed the social and emotional benefits from their involvement in music. It was not until after Cheryl's son was asked to travel and perform throughout Spain that she realized the urgency and need for all children to have a sound foundation in, and accessibility to the arts; particularly, music.

Juan Aguirre is a Queens, NY native advocate and activist with a passion for education and justice.  He has worked closely with grassroots organizations along a broad spectrum of social issues. A former middle school saxophonist in New York City’s underfunded public schools, Juan understands the need for music in the hands and minds of children.  He believes the musical arts can provide children with self-confidence, the opportunity to learn discipline, and way to build self-expression.
